Help & Troubleshooting for Videos

Here you will find answers and solutions to the most frequently asked questions about video editing and censorship with CensorX.

1. Why did my video end up in auto-moderation?

Videos are automatically moved to moderation by our system if not enough objects to be censored (such as license plates) were detected in the material.

Please note two important points:

  • Face censorship requires credits: Faces can only be censored if you use credits for it. If you have no credits or do not use them, faces will not be included in the AI detection rate.
  • Video length: Very long videos, in which a license plate is only visible for a tiny fraction of the time, distort the percentage detection result and often lead to moderation.

2. Why weren't the faces censored?

Face detection and censorship is a resource-intensive process and requires the use of credits.

If you have sufficient credits, please make sure that you have activated the face censorship toggle switch before starting the process. If this switch is off, our AI completely ignores all faces in the video.

3. My license plate was poorly or not censored at all

If a license plate was not optimally captured, first ask yourself a simple question: Can you read the license plate in the original video with the naked eye?

  • If you can't read it: If the video is too blurry or shaky, our detection model also reaches its limits. What a human cannot recognize, the AI usually cannot either.
  • If you can read it well: In this case, it helps us a lot if you create an error report. This is the only way we can train our model and fix the error for the future.

Typical factors affecting detection:

  • Lighting conditions: Very dark or strongly overexposed (bright) videos affect the AI.
  • Obstructions: Objects in front of the license plate (e.g., trailer hitches, grilles) or subsequently added lettering confuse the detection.
  • Already edited videos: If you have applied filters, color grading, or other effects (edits), the license plate is often detected much less effectively.

4. My video is slower or colors/audio no longer match

Fortunately, this phenomenon occurs only very occasionally. We have not yet been able to determine the exact technical cause.

However, we have found that this usually happens in connection with the Apple HEVC video format. It is best to try saving or uploading your video in a different format (e.g., standard H.264 / MP4).

Should the problem persist afterwards, please do not hesitate to create a support ticket so we can take a closer look at your clip.

5. I cannot download my finished video

This problem also currently occurs occasionally with Apple users (iOS/macOS). We are investigating the issue intensely but have not yet located the exact trigger.

If you cannot save or download your video, please be sure to create a support ticket. In this case, we usually have a few short questions for you (e.g., about your device and iOS version) to narrow down the error and help you quickly.
